Stories, Inspirations, & The Art of Celebrating

Welcome to my world of event planning from A to Z

I've been planning, designing, and cooking my way through events for over 15 years — every wedding, party, and celebration from the first idea to the last plate cleared. One thing I've learned: people fall in love with a picture on Pinterest with no idea what it actually costs to pull off. This blog is where I close that gap — real advice on planning, space and theme design, menus, and honest numbers on what things actually cost, from someone who's built these events start to finish.

The Hidden Garden Where Bexx Secret Garden Came to Life

By Bexx Jones

How it all began

People always ask how this started. The honest answer is that it started long before it had a name.

Entertaining has always been in my DNA. Music was my first love — the thing I trained for, performed for, built years of my life around — but food and family were never far behind it. Before there was a venue, before there was a website, there were themed parties for my kids, new recipes I couldn't wait to try out on people, and a hidden garden full of guests who somehow never wanted to leave. That last part turned out to matter more than I knew at the time.

The long way around

I didn't take a straight path here. I spent years as a professional singer, and for a while I helped out with my husband's video production business. I learned a lot in those years — but I also spent a lot of them working with difficult clients, and slowly losing touch with the thing that actually lit me up.

Eventually I came back to it. Cooking. Creating. Performing. Gathering people together in a beautiful space. When I finally admitted that was the work I was meant to do, everything got simpler.

The supper club

So I started an underground supper club.

I designed the whole thing — the menu, the flow of the evening, the details you don't notice but somehow feel. And because performing never really left me, I sang for my guests, too. It wasn't a restaurant and it wasn't a concert. It was something in between: a night you couldn't get anywhere else, in a garden most people didn't know existed.

Then people started coming back. And they started saying the same thing on their way out: you have to open this up.

The garden that grew a business

I planted this garden myself — every plant, with my own hands — hidden behind a little English cottage home and my own front garden, tucked right into the concrete of the NoHo Arts District. It was never meant to become a venue. But the more people passed through it, the more obvious it became that the garden wasn't just a backdrop. It was the experience.

So I let it happen. No big launch, no grand plan — just one yes at a time, until the supper club had quietly become Bexx Secret Garden. Fifteen years later, I'm still the creative force behind it all — the food, the cakes, the florals, the design, the planning — with a small, trusted team by my side when an extra set of hands is needed. The same hands that planted the roses still set the table.

That's the part I'm proudest of. Not that it grew — but that it grew authentically, out of the exact thing I loved doing all along.

Come see for yourself

The garden is still here, still hidden, still a little piece of paradise in the middle of the city. And people still don't want to leave.
